Canada is a diverse and multicultural country with 10 provinces and 3 territories. Each year Canada and its provinces welcome new comers to come and settle in those provinces. Recently Canada introduced Atlantic Immigration Program that offered a pathway to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers and international graduates from a Canadian institution who want to work and live in 1 of Canada’s 4 Atlantic provinces—New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador. The program helped employers hire qualified candidates for jobs they haven’t been able to fill locally.
Similar way other provinces of Canada offer Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that allows foreign workers and international graduates to settle in the provinces with their families. Under PNP, applicants must be nominated by a Canadian province or territory. It is a 2-step process. First, if the applicant chooses to immigrate to Canada as a provincial nominee, they must apply to the province/territory where they wish to settle and complete its provincial nomination process. The province/territory will review and consider their application based on its immigration needs, applicant’s genuine intention to settle there as well as applicant’s ability to be able to economically contribute to the province/territory.
Once nominated, the applicant will have to make a separate application to IRCC for permanent residence.
